L'ÉTANG-du-GRAND-COTEAU
A Nature Park, All Year-Round !
L'Étang-du-Grand-Coteau, right in the heart of town.

![]() |
Nestled in a wooded area, among the stately pines, lay two lakes, one for recreational purposes and the other, a more sheltered and untamed site.
Families out and about for the day, as well as outdoor enthusiasts of all types,
take great pleasure in observing the fauna and flora, native to our region.
This magnificent setting, preserved where possible in its original natural splendour, plays host to an abundance
of pastimes and leisure activities. Nature-lovers can wander along the lakeside trails, admire the trees and flowers
or climb the hillside slope to discover three additional lakes tucked away in the woods.
The nature park is also a favourite spot for ornithologists, as it is home to many species of birds enticed by
the bountiful flora and protective forest cover. A north-south excursion translates into an over three-hour trek
to cross the park !
Families benefit from this secure green space, an area for young children to play, to enjoy picnics, outdoor games
and bike rides. In winter, the park encompasses an immense skating rink as the waters of the duck pond freeze over.
A slide for the little ones is built up on its banks. A network of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails extend
through the parkland, scaling the hillside.
Since the summer of 2003, a municipal bike path fringes Montée Masson Blvd, making its way through town, extending up
to the end of chemin des Anglais where it integrates seamlessly into the nature park, offering cyclists the pleasant good
fortune of discovering this ecological emerald.
It was by no means an accident that this 191-hectar expanse of greenery is located in downtown Mascouche.
Now residents and visitors alike can enjoy outdoor activities all year-round.and only a short distance from home!
