Economic Development

Economic development in Mascouche is directly linked to new infrastructure put into place by the municipality.

The sizeable water supply and treatment program for the Montée Masson area, as well as the extension and expansion of the boulevard itself into a four-lane thoroughfare, has made way for the Cours de l'Étang residential housing development, construction of Phase I of the Méga-centre shopping complex, as well as encouraging commercial growth along Montée Masson Boulevard.

Work to upgrade the roadway along Chemin des Anglais, the opening of Avenue de l'Étang (north-south) and De l'Esplanade (east-west) have completed the street network and further solidified future municipal development.

Well served by Highways 25 and 640, Mascouche undertook another construction project in 2006.the building of an overpass across Highway 25, via De l'Esplanade, effectively linking the commercial downtown area to the industrial park as well as the future site of the new commuter train station. Phase II of Méga-centre shopping complex is also being built along the De l'Esplanade artery.

AGRITOURISM

Mascouche originally began as an agricultural municipality. The vastness of its territory now encompasses an urban zone located mainly in the southern section, while numerous farms still extend far and wide throughout the remaining sectors.

In recent years, many farms have taken up agritourism, a budding segment of the industry, its steady progression linked to an increase in population and growing interest in acquiring fresh foods locally.

"Pick-your-own" fruit outings, the local sale of fruits and vegetables, as well as the raising and selling of game meats are but a few of the specialties now offered by our municipality's farming community.
